During your session
A little less posing, a little more feeling.
My approach to family photography is all about capturing the connections, the in-between moments and the little things that make your family yours. Rather than spending our time perfecting poses, we’ll slow down, explore, play and make space for the moments that unfold naturally. The silly bits, the unexpected laughter, the quiet cuddles and all the beautiful little things you might not even realise are happening.
At the beginning of our session, we’ll give the kids time to explore their surroundings and get to know me. There’s no rush, and there’s certainly no expectation for everyone to feel comfortable straight away. If you’re feeling a little awkward in front of the camera, I promise you’re not alone. I’ll gently guide you whenever you need it, helping you feel at ease without taking away from the natural moments unfolding around you.
Sometimes, the most beautiful moments happen when it feels like nothing much is happening at all. You’ll begin to relax, take a breath and settle into being together. You’ll stop thinking about the camera quite so much and start enjoying the people around you. That’s when the genuine laughter, the spontaneous cuddles and the little moments of connection begin to happen. And don’t worry, I’ll still make sure you look beautiful, too! Whether it’s sweeping a stray piece of hair from your face or offering a little direction, I’ll be there to help when you need me.
Of course, I also want to make sure we capture the photographs you’ve been dreaming of. If there are particular moments, combinations or images you’ve imagined for your family, we’ll make time for those, too.
Because families aren’t perfect, and they don’t need to be. They’re beautifully messy, wonderfully unpredictable and full of little moments that make them unique. My job is to see the beauty in all of it and turn your connection, your story and your perfectly imperfect family into something you’ll treasure for years to come.
You don’t need to do anything special. Just come as you are, love your people, and let the rest unfold. That’s where the magic happens. 🤍
